Flyers
Installation, 4 Posters, 24x34"
Flyers are usually made all the same as a flat rectangular object, but once they are put up on billboards, they become 3D objects—constantly changing their shapes by wind, light and shadow. But these 3D objects become an image again,
which we just look over and pass by everyday.
This project was an effort to play with this process
of our perception, which is made up of multiple sequences as opposed to an immediate given. I made flyers out of photographs of flyers and put them back to the site. Without close scrutiny, the scene looked the same as before. If viewers tried to study the information on the flyers, they would realize that the new flyers (made of the images of flyers) existed between the represented flyers and them. As the new flyers had their own lives as flyers, the representation of flyers and the flyers that were the representation coexisted.
